September Note

Hi all. Here is the September note that was went home this week.
Thanks, Tori

Welcome back dancers and parents! We hope you had a great summer. Here are a few things to remind you about and a few new things as well.
We have made some changes to the schedule. Please make sure you look closely at the new schedule on the back of this note (the new schedule is two posts down from this one). The classes that are affected by the changes are: Adv. Ballet, Pointe, Angels, Divas, Beg. Hip Hop and Beg. Ballet. If these new times don’t work for you, please let Tori know as soon as possible. This new schedule will begin next week (Sept. 20th). Also, the Minis class (Thurs. 3:30) is getting quite full. If we have a few more girls sign up for the class, we might end up splitting the class. The other class time would be on Wednesdays at 3:45. We will let you know if we end up doing this. The Modern class has space in it if any dancers are interested in taking the class. It’s a great class to let dancers explore new ways of moving their body. We hope to see you there!
Don’t forget that the alleyway next to the studio is one way only – OUT. Please drive in through the empty lot with the white fence just south of the studio, and exit through the alley by the studio. Also, please be aware of dancers and other children as you are dropping off and picking up your dancer. We don’t want anyone to get hurt. As a common courtesy, please leave the first two parking spaces next to the building open for the people who live in the apartment above the studio.
Just a reminder that we will be very strict with the dance attire policy this year. Please make sure you come to dance DRESSED to dance. Thank you.
Don’t forget that “Bring a FRIEND Day” is the week of September 20th. Invite anyone and everyone to come and check out what you do at Dance Technica. We would love to see our classes full of new faces that week.
There is a tuition drop box on the wall, inside, next to the door. You will need to deposit your tuition in this box. Please make sure the dancers full name is on the memo section of your check. If you are paying with cash, you will still need to get a receipt.
Please make sure you put your dancer’s name on all shoes. We don’t want anyone loosing their shoes. Also, we have put a poster up in the studio of dancewear items (shoes, leotards, tights, etc.) that you may purchase through the studio. Come in and check it out.
On Friday, October 8th, we will be having a costume sale at the studio from 4pm to 7pm. We will be selling all extra costumes from past years. Come and check out what we have! This would be a great time to get that perfect Christmas gift for that little ballerina on your list or just get some fun dress-up clothes to put in the dress-up box.
We are very excited for this new dance year and hope you are too. We have some great new ideas to share and look forward to working with all our wonderful dancers! Dance Technica’s goal is to keep our dancers looking beautiful onstage and increase their technique. Thanks again for all your support and we look forward to sharing this great year with you.

Schedule Changes

I just made a few changes to the schedule, so make sure you've got it. :) Also, just to clear up some confusion, the Super Minis only need to sign up for one class. It is the same class, just two different times. I would like to fill the 11:00 class first. :) Thanks and if you have questions, you know what to do. :)

Dance, Dance, Dance

Hi all! I hope you've been having a great summer! We've been keeping busy at our house. Here are a few things that we have coming up...

July 24th, 11:30 am -- Performance at Wellington City Days
If you are in town the weekend of the 24th, we would LOVE to see you in Wellington Saturday afternoon. We will be dancing at the Wellington City Park at 11:30 am. We will have a practice the Thursday before to go over routines and just to see who we will have. Tiny Tots, Super Minis, Minis, Angels, Stars and Beg. Hip Hop -- please be at the studio on Thursday the 22nd at 6:00 pm. Diamonds/Divas, Jr. Elites, Elites, Drill Team & Adv. Hip Hop, please be at the studio at 7:00 pm on the 22nd to go over dances.

July 31st, 10:00 am -- International Days Parade
All dancers will need to be at the float by 9:45 am. Dancers can wear their favorite dance costume or a Dance Technica t-shirt. If you would like to purchase a t-shirt, let me know. I have a few left. They are $5. Also, the 31st is National Dance Day and we would like to have Dance Technica participate! We will be learning a routine that dancers around the United States will be dancing on the 31st (how exciting) and incorporating it into a parade routine!!! We have started learning this in our summer classes, but it's not too late to start learning it now. It's not too tricky, but it is a lot of fun! So, if you are interested in learning the dance, please come to summer classes the next two weeks to learn the routine and get it down perfect. Don't worry, you can still be in the parade even if you don't know the dance. :) But if you'd like to participate in National Dance Day with us, please come and learn it. It really is a fun dance choreographed by So You Think You Can Dance choreographers - Tabitha and Napolean D'umo. (they are SO awesome!) So here's the summer schedule one more time:
Classes are every Tuesday and Thursday
10:00 - 10:45 ages 5 to 8 3 and 4 year olds are welcome if they'd like to learn the routine for the parade.
11:00 - 12:00 ages 9 to 12
12:00 - 1:00 Jr. High and High School girls
Each classes is only 2 dollars.
We will not be having summer classes during the month of August. (taking a break)
If you have any questions about the parade, please give me a call.

Registration for the new dance year will be August 24th, 25th and 26th, at the studio from 5 to 7 pm each night. I will be sending out the new schedule the beginning of August. Also, the new schedule will be posted on the blog by the end of the week. Classes will begin September 13th, the week after Labor Day.

If you have questions about anything, please give me a call. Also, please pass the word along to other Dance Technica parents. I don't have an email address for everyone.
Thanks so much,
Tori Frandsen

Some June Info

Hello Dance Technica Parents,

I told some of you the time we will be dancing on Friday, but now I need to let you know that we will NOT be dancing on Friday. It is too hard to get enough dancers there in the summer and routines don't work when there are only 3 or 4 dancers. I hope you understand and hopefully we can get information sooner and perform at the Relay for Life next year.

Don't forget that summer dance classes have started. This is every Tuesday and Thursday at the dance studio. The classes are technique classes so come when you can or better still, come each week. Here is the schedule:
10:00 - 10:45 ages 5 to 8 (if your 4 year old really wants to dance over the summer, bring her) :)
11:00 - 12:00 ages 9 to 12
12:00 - 1:00 Jr. High and High School girls
Each classes is only 2 dollars. Hope to see you all this summer!

Also, Dance Technica is planning on being in the International Days Parade. This is on July 31st. All dancers (past and present) are welcome to come and be a part of the Dance Technica float. Only requirement: wear your favorite dance costume and your best parade smile. :)

Parents, I don't have an email for every Dance Technica parent. If you see a Dance Technica parent around this summer, please pass on the info. It would be greatly appreciated. Also, if you are on facebook, Dance Technica has a page there too. I will post what is going on there also.

And finally. . .
WAY TO GO TO ALL THE GIRLS WHO PERFORMED AT LAGOON ON SATURDAY!! YOU WERE AWESOME!!
Missy and I were SO PROUD of all of you. You braved the weather and did a great job. And Kenidee did amazing with her solo. Again, way to go!
I will post pictures of Lagoon later this week! :)

If you have any questions about anything, please give me a call.
Thanks,
Tori

Lagoon

Hey Parents,
I have lagoon tickets, but I am still waiting to get the line up information. As soon as I have it, I will post the times and send out an email with the information.
Don't forget about Lagoon practice on Thursday, June 10th at 10:30 am at the studio.

Also, we will be offering summer technique classes this year. Classes will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays and will cost $2 a class. The schedule will be:
10:00 - 10:45 Ages 5 to 8
11:00 - 12:00 Ages 9 to 12
12:00 - 1:00 Jr. High and High School Age
These will be fun technique classes and then dancers will be ready for when classes start in September (and parents, it will give your kids something to do this summer). :) Hope to see you all there!
Classes will begin on June 15th and run every Tuesday and Thursday until August 12.

We would also like to participate in the International Days Parade. This will be on July 31st. We hope everyone will be able to come and be on our Dance Technica float. Dancers can wear their favorite costume! Everyone LOVES a parade! :)

Thanks to everyone for an awesome recital! All the dancers looked amazing! What a great year!!

February News

February Notes
We have some important news this month so PLEASE read through this note carefully.
It is very important that your dancers bring all their shoes to class each week. We are trying to set new choreography and it is very difficult to do when not everyone has their tap shoes. We will be placing an order for shoes this month. If your dancer is in need of any new shoes, please let us know so we can get them sized and place the order. The deadline is February 15th.
We would like to have Dance Technica perform at Lagoon this year. We did this 2 years ago and it was a lot of fun. All classes (except Tiny Tots) will perform in an exhibition show. This will be Saturday, June 12th. We will need at least 4 dancers from each class to commit in order for that class to go. The cost is $17 per dancer per routine. We will do this instead of the competition here in Price and instead do our Peace Gardens show that weekend. (The last weekend in April.) But anyone who would like to still compete in the solo/duet/trio competition is more than welcome to. I need to have your answer about Lagoon by the 19th of this month. Please email me telling me if you can attend or not. Dancers and Parents receive a discounted pass to get into Lagoon, or you can pay to see the performance only. We had a great time at Lagoon when we did this last time and you can make it into a fun family day. We will have more information about the Lagoon performance next month. Don’t forget to email me with your answer.
We are still waiting to hear back from CEU about performing at a basket ball game. If they can fit us in, it will be in March.
Recital dates have been set! The dance recital will be MAY 17TH at 6:30 pm. This is a Monday evening. Dress rehearsal will be the Saturday before, the 15th, starting at 1 pm for class rehearsal time and then full run through at 3 pm. I hope this works for everyone. If it doesn’t, please let me know.
Important February Performance dates:
Feb. 15th – NO CLASS
Feb. 17th – Parkdale – 6:30 pm Tiny Tots, Angels, Diamonds/Divas
Feb. 24th – Parkdale – 6:30 pm Super Minis, Minis, Stars & Jr. Elites
There WILL be class on each performance day. We will send home detailed performance notes with each dancer the class prior to each performance.
Don’t forget class pictures are on March 27th, Peace Gardens show will be April 24th and recital is May 17th.
Congratulations to those that have made the Splits Club and Donut Club already. And to everyone else – keep stretching, you have two months left.

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!
