Lagoon

Hey Parents,
I have lagoon tickets, but I am still waiting to get the line up information. As soon as I have it, I will post the times and send out an email with the information.
Don't forget about Lagoon practice on Thursday, June 10th at 10:30 am at the studio.

Also, we will be offering summer technique classes this year. Classes will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays and will cost $2 a class. The schedule will be:
10:00 - 10:45 Ages 5 to 8
11:00 - 12:00 Ages 9 to 12
12:00 - 1:00 Jr. High and High School Age
These will be fun technique classes and then dancers will be ready for when classes start in September (and parents, it will give your kids something to do this summer). :) Hope to see you all there!
Classes will begin on June 15th and run every Tuesday and Thursday until August 12.

We would also like to participate in the International Days Parade. This will be on July 31st. We hope everyone will be able to come and be on our Dance Technica float. Dancers can wear their favorite costume! Everyone LOVES a parade! :)

Thanks to everyone for an awesome recital! All the dancers looked amazing! What a great year!!

February News

February Notes
We have some important news this month so PLEASE read through this note carefully.
It is very important that your dancers bring all their shoes to class each week. We are trying to set new choreography and it is very difficult to do when not everyone has their tap shoes. We will be placing an order for shoes this month. If your dancer is in need of any new shoes, please let us know so we can get them sized and place the order. The deadline is February 15th.
We would like to have Dance Technica perform at Lagoon this year. We did this 2 years ago and it was a lot of fun. All classes (except Tiny Tots) will perform in an exhibition show. This will be Saturday, June 12th. We will need at least 4 dancers from each class to commit in order for that class to go. The cost is $17 per dancer per routine. We will do this instead of the competition here in Price and instead do our Peace Gardens show that weekend. (The last weekend in April.) But anyone who would like to still compete in the solo/duet/trio competition is more than welcome to. I need to have your answer about Lagoon by the 19th of this month. Please email me telling me if you can attend or not. Dancers and Parents receive a discounted pass to get into Lagoon, or you can pay to see the performance only. We had a great time at Lagoon when we did this last time and you can make it into a fun family day. We will have more information about the Lagoon performance next month. Don’t forget to email me with your answer.
We are still waiting to hear back from CEU about performing at a basket ball game. If they can fit us in, it will be in March.
Recital dates have been set! The dance recital will be MAY 17TH at 6:30 pm. This is a Monday evening. Dress rehearsal will be the Saturday before, the 15th, starting at 1 pm for class rehearsal time and then full run through at 3 pm. I hope this works for everyone. If it doesn’t, please let me know.
Important February Performance dates:
Feb. 15th – NO CLASS
Feb. 17th – Parkdale – 6:30 pm Tiny Tots, Angels, Diamonds/Divas
Feb. 24th – Parkdale – 6:30 pm Super Minis, Minis, Stars & Jr. Elites
There WILL be class on each performance day. We will send home detailed performance notes with each dancer the class prior to each performance.
Don’t forget class pictures are on March 27th, Peace Gardens show will be April 24th and recital is May 17th.
Congratulations to those that have made the Splits Club and Donut Club already. And to everyone else – keep stretching, you have two months left.

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!

October Note

Dance Technica's October Info
We hope you have all had a great first month of dance. If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know and we will do what we can. We have a few reminders for everyone. Please make sure you read this note carefully.
The costume deposit is due by the 16th of this month. Please don’t forget. Also, just a reminder that tuition is due the first week of the month. After the 15th, you will be charged a $5 late fee. Please put your dancer’s name on the memo line of your check. If you pay with cash, please make sure you get a receipt. All tuition goes in the tuition drop box (unless you are paying with cash). It is located inside the studio right next to the door.
We will be having our Halloween class parties the week of the 26th. We would love to have all of our dancer’s wear their Halloween costume to each class. Please don’t forget. We do take a class picture of our dancing goblins.
We just wanted to say a big “thank you” to every one for doing a great job in wearing the correct clothes to dance. It has been great seeing each of our dancer’s dressed to dance. Just remember to make sure that your hair is pulled back out of your face and off your neck. Keep up the good work!
Each month we try to teach our dancers a new dance vocabulary word. The word for October is: Rond de jambĂ©. This means – round of the leg. It is an exercise that is usually done at the bar. Beginning in first position, the working legs moves in a circular motion moving to the front, side and back (en dehors) or reversed; back, side, front (en dedans). This is an exercise to turn the legs out from the hips, to loosen the hips and to keep the toe well back and the heel forward. Please ask your dancer to show you this step each week. Consider it her dance homework.
We have made a change to Wednesday’s schedule. It is now:
3:30 – 4:30 – Stars
4:30 – 5:00 – Beg. Hip Hop
5:00 – 6:15 – Diamonds/Divas
6:15 – 7:15 – Adv. Jazz
We hope this new schedule will continue to work for everyone and apologize for any inconvenience. We hope you understand the need to combine to two classes. If you have any questions or concerns about this new schedule, please contact Tori.
Thanks again to everyone for doing such a great job this past month. As always, we appreciate the support you give Dance Technica. You make it possible for us to do what we love. If you have any questions, please give Tori a call.
Sincerely,
Tori Frandsen 613-0604 or 820-4588
